Cars in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Police stated they were notified by a resident who found a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then located multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.

A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
