I'll dominate 'legitimate fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight round fight which will be broadcast live on the streaming platform.

Briton Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "overpower" the American as the combatants came face-to-face to build hype for the upcoming bout.

Ex twice unified title holder Anthony Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth disparity - at Miami's arena on December 19th.

Boxer's Mentality

"I plan to damage his features and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I will genuinely try to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."

Civil Exchange

In spite of those words, a composed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - shared friendly words and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul instead attacked ex Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, targeted UK rival Fury - and refused a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul victory.

"Jake Paul outshines Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua commented.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Fighter

In spite of saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua refused to speak negatively about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he said.

Paul's Background

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since becoming pro.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

Still, the novice is still one of boxing's largest money-making draws, frequently receiving huge earnings.

Prediction and Belief

The 28 year old forecast a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would prevent the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is reportedly under discussion for 2026.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul declared.

Size Difference

As the two fighters engaged in the traditional face-off, with their height and weight contrast on show, it highlighted just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is really proceeding.
